The Long Blog Weekend

Good morning everyone.  I have to work for the next three days and I was able to watch a lot of sports last night, so I decided to do my 'Friday' blog early and give my myself a long blog weekend.  Working nights as I currently do, I will be unable to watch any meaningful amount of sports until Sunday.  HOWEVER, I am scheduled to have four days off in a row once Sunday does get here, so I am pretty excited about that.  :)  Last night I was treated to an overtime opening game of the Stanley Cup Finals, an overtime second game of the NBA's Eastern Conference Finals, and some random baseball scattered here and there...

The hockey game was everything that I could have hoped for, except that New Jersey didn't win the game.  I don't have any allegiances in this series, except for the fact that I picked the Devils to beat the Kings in seven games, so as I would be after making a sports bet, I am a New Jersey fan for this series.  As I have written here previously, I LOVE overtime playoff hockey.  Unfortunately for me, the overtime didn't last long and the wrong team scored the game-winning goal.  Los Angeles executed a great pass to give themselves a breakaway opportunity and the Kings took advantage of it to give themselves a 1-0 series lead.  I have to work on Saturday, but I will be able to watch games 3 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday, so I'm a pretty happy camper as far as that goes.  Why the second game of this series isn't scheduled until Saturday is beyond me, but whatever...

Speaking of delays, I saw last night while watching the Heat/Celtics game that the NBA Finals are going to begin on June 12th I believe (it is either the 12th or 13th, and I was unable to confirm the date doing a quick search online).  This would be funny if both series somehow turned out to be sweeps because each winner would get like 8 or 9 days off, just enough time for all of the sports world to forget about basketball...  Don't ask me, I don't know...  Anyway, Boston's point-guard Rajon Rondo played the game of his life last night, only to watch his Celtics go down in defeat.  Yeah, my remote was busy last night considering that this game was played simultaneously with the hockey game.  As I said before, another overtime game, as LeBron James missed a potential game-winning layup and jumpshot in the last twenty seconds of regulation, but Paul Pierce fouled-out for the Celtics, and the Heat managed to keep home court against Boston.  Okay, I did lie in that last paragraph - I picked Miami to win this series, but I'm still rooting for the Celtics to bounce them out...  :)

Baseball, oh baseball...  This is a good time to let you know that I overlooked my fantasy baseball update on Monday.  I'm sitting in 10th place of 10 teams now,but I'm still confident that won't be my finishing place.  Memphis Mojo (who has a blog that is on my reading list, and who has stopped by here before to comment) was in attendance when ANOTHER of my fantasy pitching stars went on the disabled list, as Roy Halladay left his outing against the Cardinals with arm problems in St. Louis and will now be out for 6 to 8 weeks.  My team is just on the cusp of advancing in several categories, and there are four months left to play, so I'll let you know...  As I flipped through the channels last night, I caught a glimpse of the Seattle Mariners MAULING the Texas Rangers (that is not a typo), 11-0 in the 3rd inning when I first saw it, in what turned out to be a 21-8 Mariners win.  OUCH!!!  After both the hockey and the basketball games had ended, the Angels were in the 5th inning of their game against the Yankees out in Anaheim, and I got to watch New York end the Angels' eight-game winning streak...  That would bother me more if the Red Sox weren't playing so much better now.

It looks like today is going to be the day that 'Bikini Hill' passes the 8,000 view plateau, so thank you for that.  It just shows that someone is bound to find your blog if you type 3 entries a week for 8 months...  :)  I hope that you have a great weekend and I'll see you again on Monday (and not before)...
